Can I enter the US with an invalid SEVIS ID but with a valid J-1?
Almost impossible but assume that the timing of your sponsor reporting back to USCIS have some problems and you somehow managed to get in to the US, the moment thos records reconcile and your SEVIS ID being invalid vs your US J-1 visa, you will start accumulating unlawful presence days. Not a good idea if you ask me.
